Taylor, one of my dearest college friends, got married late summer in Hood Canal to Pete, a salt of the earth Midwesterner. We assumed Pete, a talented musician, would put on a performance but everyone in attendance was blown away after dinner when Tay also stood up, strapped on a guitar and joined him for “You Make My Dreams Come True”. Months of secret private guitar lessons paid off and the duet received a standing ovation. The selection was perfection, as the two of them embody in their relationship with each other and their friends the same feel good sentiment that Hall and Oates delivers. The entire weekend was brimming with love and “freeze frames” – a term coined by the Mother of the Bride for instances that are so perfect they demand stopping to savor the special moment. The heartfelt celebration and couple is the ultimate freeze frame and I’ll cherish the memory of Taylor striking as a classic beauty (and rockstar!) in my understated pearl and diamond earrings.
